Job Summary: Build working relationships to provide support and technical assistance to school boards, superintendents, and administrative assistants. Work synergistically with executive and governance coaches in the areas of strategic planning and best practices in school governance. Assist in the development of best practices in school governance.

 

Qualifications:  

Minimum Education/Training: 

Bachelor Degree or required license

Prefer Post Undergraduate degree with coursework  in administration or related field

Previous experience with governance teams (superintendents and school boards)

 

Experience:     

10 years of educational experience in a professional capacity
Prefer superintendent or central office administrative experience.

Must have knowledge and experience working with school boards

           

Knowledge / Skills:

Ability to build, develop, and inspire teams

Broad knowledge of current laws, rules, and regulations                                                   

Knowledge of school goverance best practices
Ability to interpret and implement current policies and procedures

Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills                                                                           

 

Working Conditions:

Must be able to maintain emotional control under stress

Cooperate with staff members and outside customers

Ability to multi-task

Irregular hours; prolonged periods sitting at a desk

Frequent regional  travel

Majority of working conditions will be indoors

 

Primary Essential Functions:

  1. Provide support to executive and governance coaches in strategic planning and progress monitoring
  2. Work with executive and governance coaches to organize district scorecards that includes student outcome goals, priority areas, and progress measures.
  3. Support the creation of monitoring calendars and progress monitoring reports that are regularly given to the board during board meetings.
  4. Work with Districts to monitor the time use, attendance, and topics discussed during board meetings.
  5. Support school boards in completing regular board self-evaluations in order to progress monitor board and board member behaviors for continual improvement.
  6. Assist in the planning meeting agenda setting to align to best governance practices.
  7. Support the board and superintendent in the organization and completion of superintendent evaluations.
  8. Work across the ESC to develop school board training materials including online courses.
  9. Support districts with meeting all school board legal requirements including board elections, public hearings, and monitoring school board member training hours and coordinate the scheduling of trainings and workshops.
  10. Support school boards in creating and reviewing board and board member expectations including board operating procedures.
  11. Support school boards and superintendents in efforts to communicate with and seek community input.
  12. Routinely update departmental listservs, webpages, and other ESC communication/marketing tools to ensure effective communication with customers.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Funding

All Region 7 employees are at-will employees.  Because your assignment is funded by grants, federal funding, and/or special funding, your continued employment is expressly conditioned onthe availability of funding for the position.  If funding becomes unavailable due to loss of state/federal funding or due to financial constraints of Region 7 ESC, your position is subject to immediate termination.
