Job Title: Senior Network Engineer II

Job Summary: Designs and administers Region 7’s Wide Area Network and Local Area Network, focusing  on network performance in conjunction with security. Works closely with Regional ISO and Network  Security Specialist to improve Region 7's security posture. Manages and oversees security policies and  configuration for moderate to complex network infrastructures. Responsible for designing and  maintaining networks that are fault-tolerant and redundant for maximum uptime for staff and WAN  customers. Responsible for WAN router and firewall configurations / maintenance. Provides leadership to  team members for moderate to complex changes. Provides customers with designs, assistance, and  recommendations for LEA’s improvements to their LAN. 

 

Qualifications:  

Education/Training: 

Bachelor Degree or required license 

Prefer Master Degree in related field 

 

Experience: 

Prefer 10 years of related experience. 

Prefer one or more current certifications such as Network+, PenTest+ Security+, CySA+,  SSCP, CNSP, CNVP, CSAP, CCNA, CCIE, JNCIA, JNCIS, ACSA, CMA, CWNA, PCNSA.

Major Responsibilities and Duties: 

  1. Assist with designing and implementing secure / highly available WANs, LANs, and WLANs for  Region 7, ESC7Net, and Prime IT districts. 
  2. Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining networking standards for Prime IT districts. 
  3. Provide installation and support for routers, firewalls, content filters, and equipment owned by  ESC7Net deployed to ESC7Net customers. 
  4. Provide on-site and remote support for WAN, LAN, and WLAN components for Region 7 ESC and  Prime IT districts/customers. 
  5. Utilize Freshservice for Change Management for network changes for Region 7, ESC7Net, and  Prime IT customers. 
  6. Utilize Freshservice helpdesk ticketing system to respond to support issues for internal staff and external customers. 
  7. Monitor network components and traffic to verify network health and availability for Region 7  ESC and Prime IT districts/customers. 
  8. Help assess schools/charters' network and security infrastructure to advise and plan for upgrades to align with Prime IT standards. 
  9. Assist with Cybersecurity initiatives developed by TEA/DIR and/or Federal standards. 10. Assist to provide technical training/instruction for Prime IT customers as needed. 11. Acquire and maintain knowledge/certifications in relevant technologies. 
  10. Provide input to the ESC budget process regarding technology issues and needs. 
  11. Provide help and guidance to Prime IT customers' Category 2 E-Rate needs for their upcoming  USAC Form filings. 
  12. Provide input for new and existing technology services to meet the needs of the Region 7 ESC  school districts. 
  13. Communicate with internal staff and external customers to relay pertinent service-affecting information as needed. 
  14. Provide networking assistance for DMAC’s network as needed. 
  15. Demonstrate professional behavior in all interactions with ESC 7 staff and customers. 18. Attend and actively participate in ESC-required meetings
